Out With the Old, In With the New

As we move from 2011 to 2012, with sadness and relief, we said goodbye to Namida (our W32) and sent her on new adventures with her new owner.  She was sold on Dec. 23 and we hear that she is in for some wind and solar power as well as refrigeration upgrades.  We are pleased to know that she will be used and not rot in a slip.

So it is fitting that we now devote our entire weekends to Abake (our W42).  New Year's weekend found us removing the 6 large portlights, scraping caulk, ordering formica, and cleaning the cabin.  Paint supplies are stored until the Spring when it warms up -- we still have a few lockers to go.  Next plans are to find safety glass for the portlights (replacing the cloudy plexiglas) and hopefully new gasket material.  And, when the formica arrives, we'll be working on the galley.

You can see our two girls here (above) and some current progress (below).
